About

Top of the City Sports Equity Initiative
The Top of the City Sports Equity Initiative, formerly the Top of the City Benevolent Society, is a newly established federal non-profit organization dedicated to promoting equitable access to sports and recreational activities within Canada. Our mission is to remove financial barriers that prevent many young athletes and organizations from participating in sports by providing crucial financial assistance.
We achieve this by subsidizing sports registration fees and rental costs for eligible sports organizations, ensuring that more children and youth have the opportunity to experience the benefits of sports, including improved physical health, teamwork, leadership skills, and community engagement.
Why This Is Important:
Access to sports should not be determined by financial means. Unfortunately, for many families and organizations, the cost of registration and rental fees can be a significant obstacle. This disparity can limit opportunities for children to enjoy physical activity, develop important life skills, and foster a sense of belonging and achievement.
Our initiative aims to promote inclusivity, diversity, and social equity by making sports more accessible to everyone, regardless of their economic background. When more children participate in sports, it not only benefits their personal growth but also strengthens our community as a whole, encouraging healthier, more connected neighborhoods.
By providing financial assistance to youth sports, the Top of the City Sports Equity Initiative strives to create a more equitable environment where every child has the chance to play, learn, and grow, building a brighter future for all.
